Killer of goats pleads guilty Sentenced to 9 years

it is:
The Face of a KILLER!

PLACERVILLE - A 23-year-old Folsom man pleaded guilty and was sentenced to nine years in prison on Monday in a case of extreme animal abuse that occurred at a family ranch in El Dorado County over a three-month period.

Ryan Troyer pleaded to eight counts of felony crimes against animals, and seven counts of grand theft in the case where he was accused of torturing and strangling to death at least 11 prized Nigerian goats.

Troyer was sentenced to nine years in state prison and was ordered to pay restitution to the victim for the loss of the goats, as well as restitution to the Superior Court.

According to Henry Brzezinski, Chief Animal Control Officer for El Dorado County, the case was disturbing on many levels.

"Our investigation showed that the crimes were committed in a very cold and calculating way, with a high level of violence and torture," Brzezinski, said. "The pain and suffering these poor goats endured is upsetting. The FBI shows there is a correlation between severe animal abuse and human violence."

Troyer was arrested on March 19 after law enforcement officers received a complaint from the owners of the goats. During his arraignment hearing a few days later, a bail of $1 million was set by the judge because of the severity of the allegations.

In addition to the charges, a judge's order was issued stating that the defendant could not "own, possess, care for or be around animals" and that his residence was subject to search. Troyer has remained in jail until his plea this week.

The crimes were committed from December 2005 through March 2006. The case was jointly investigated with the El Dorado County Sheriff's Office and Animal Control.

"We were very pleased with the swift action taken by the Sheriff's Office in responding to this crime and working with us on the case," said Brzezinski. "It was a good cooperative effort between the Sheriff's Office, Animal Control and the District Attorney's Office. We also appreciate the level of support and cooperation we received from the owners of the goats. We realize this family has been through a great ordeal, and we hope this brings some closure."

According to Brzezinski, Troyer's sentence is quite substantial for an animal abuse case.

"The sentence was based on the severity and duration of the crime," Brzezinski said

Personal Comment:
What a Big Man.. Nigerian Dwarf goats.. what are they? 50lbs atmost? What a BIG Man.. I hope he is still a Big Man in prison.. Maybe he'll be somebody's Biotch.. (most wishful thinking)

Sign up for these sites and leave a comment.. the more the courts know how we feel about animal abuse, the more likely they are to sentence the next person such as they did this KILLER!

Goat Attack Mountain Lion Shot Dead In South Bay

Saturday a mountain lion jumped over Nicky Austin's fence and killed four of her goats. But it didn't end there. Monday night it killed another one.

"I felt helpless and it was a horrible thing to listen to," said Austin. "I don't wish that upon anybody. And that will stay with me forever."

Watch News Video

Goats often times fall prey to Predatory animals and keeping them in an enclosed night time yard close to your house with lights shining onto the yard is helpful.
Personally I would not have waited for a "permit". Years ago, after a lesser attack on one of my goats, I was told by the game dept I could not kill the lion unless it was in the process of attack. The next night after the attack - the young lion returned.. Let's just say I didn't wait..
to have more of my goats injured.
This is a young buck that the immature Mt Lion attempted to pull through the fence by way of his face- 65 stitches. This is the "lesser " attack I mentioned.. This photo is of my goat- I cannot fathom what the Austin family went through listening to their goats being killed. But I'm glad they shot and killed the lion who destroyed their goats.

National Animal ID System: Tracking the livestock

National Animal ID System: Tracking the livestock: "By goatlady (Submitted: 08/13/2006 5:04 pm)
Folks, I'm here to tell you this has absolutely NOTHING to do with disease control! And if you are a small farmer like myself, it will ruin you! What is the truth? THEY WANT YOUR MONEY! As if we are not already taxed enough.. and if you think for one minute because you are a city dweller this will not impact you.. think again! It will drive food costs up drastically - and when you have to register little Fiffi ; you too will feel raped by the system!

The Animal ID follows all animals.. so say you have a healthy animal, you sell this animal and it comes in contact with a diseased animal AFTER you have sold it and gets sick.. The Government comes back to YOU and can destroy your entire herd of animals.

Say you do not have the proper tags.. and you need a vet. Vets will eventually REFUSE to treat animals without tags.. No Matter what we do it will effect us ALL- Pet owners and small farms alike!

There will be a cost for moving animals from farm to farm.. so how are small ranchers supposed to earn a living if they cannot move their animals without extra costs? What about professional Animal transporters- So much for THEIR living.

And guess what? I don't want to stick ear tags in my critter's ears.. Who is going to pay for infections if they get them? And what about when they get pulled out.. NO! I choose NOT to .. NO NAIS! I SAY TO YOU!!! NO NAIS!
Keep the Government OUT of our barns!

What will be next.. A mandatory Poop Permit? Mandatory ear tags for our CHILDREN? Aren't we all taxed enough?

Animal Identification System (NAIS) becomes a reality. Also known as the U.S. Animal Identification Plan (USAIP), the USDA is behind the 'farm to fork' tracing system that allows governmental tracking of animals from birth to slaughter.

CafePress: Old GoatT-Shirt Get Yer Goat

Do goats loose their teeth?
This was a question asked on my Emergency Goat Care Help Yahoogroup list-
Med-A-Goat911

Well Yes they do.. At approximately 18 mos old they will loose the first set of 2 lower front teeth- and every year after they will loose another 2 until all 8 of the bottom teeth have been replaced..
Goats do not have Upper front teeth- They have a Dental Pad.. which is a nice was of saying "gums".
They also replace the back teeth (molars and Premolars)

Do we have a shirt to go with this subject? Well of course we do!
